The first thing to do when you lose your job is to apply for unemployment benefits. This allows some income to come in which you could use to support yourself while you engage in job seeking full time. The other option is to telephonically file your application by calling a toll free number that is available on unemployment.ohio.gov. The lines are open from Monday to Friday from 8 in the morning to 5 in the evening. The lines are closed on weekends though. The customer service representative who would pick up your call at the other end would walk you through all the steps required for filing.
